RHAG Support Services

Supports to Daily Living

The Supports for Daily Living Program (SDL) allows RHAG to provide support services that enable vulnerable populations to live independently within the community. Tenants receive life skills training such as assistance with money management, personal care, food security, maintaining housing and eviction prevention. It enables individuals to become connected with appropriate community services.

Healthcare and Mental Health Resources

With the help of our Support Services Coordinator, RHAG tenants are able to navigate and access community healthcare and mental health resources. These include: connection to therapists, group programs, hospital programs, hoarding support programs, family safety planning, etc.

RHAP Programming

RHAG’s charitable arm is Riverdale Housing Animation Programs. It was created in 1997 to further address the needs of women, children and youth in the RHAG and broader Toronto East Community. We run many programs throughout the year including monthly women’s groups, youth groups, children’s programming, food security programming, and holiday programming. For more information visit our website at www.rhap.ca.

Counseling and Mentoring

RHAG employs a Social Worker to provide counseling and mentoring to our tenants. We provide long-term, short-term, and needs based counselling and are always available to assist tenants with their situations.

Job Preparation and Skill Building

RHAG Staff assist tenants with their resume building, and assist tenants in recognizing their transferable skills. We also act as a reference to many of our tenants and community members. Through our programming, we are able to provide skill-building exercises.

Community Development and Advocacy

RHAG believes in grassroots initiatives! RHAG strives to rally our local community and tenants to take control of their own lives and housing needs. RHAG provides many avenues for tenants to become involved in leading their tenancies including acting as Board or Committee Members and Program Planners. RHAG staff are always advocating for our tenants and vulnerable populations.

Mediation

RHAG Staff provide mediation for tenants whenever needed. This could mean tenant to tenant conflict or connecting with our neighbours to ensure everyone is living happy, healthy, and safe!

Crisis Intervention

RHAG Staff provide Crisis Intervention on a case by case basis. Staff want to ensure that all tenants are safe, and will step in to assist with crises when needed. This can include referring tenants to local resources and connecting with our local police department and healthcare systems.

Income Support Referrals

RHAG Staff work closely with tenants
to ensure that they are receiving all available income supports and funding
including access to subsidies, OW and ODSP funding, children and family
funding, emergency funding, pensions and senior funding, etc.
